BIOGRAPHY
Nazli Efe (b. 1989) is a Turkish- Cypriot artist and architect.
She completed her undergrad and master’s degree in architecture at Bahcesehir University (TR) and studied at Virginia Tech University (USA) as a consortium student. During her architecture education, she received many scholarships that led her to experience distinct cultures. Particularly, visits to Japan and Korea affected her profoundly by introducing her to Buddhist Philosophy and Art. While she was deepening her knowledge in spirituality, she realized the existence of energy and the unity of being; those laid the foundation for themes of her artistic works.
Nazli discusses the dialogue between definite and infinite, emptiness and absolute, the macrocosm and microcosm from a mystical aspect. She employs both traditional (especially miniature painting and marbling) and contemporary techniques in a way that brings together the aesthetics of the East and the West to depict a transcendental world in unity.
Existence is rhizomatic, everything is related. Through her works, by experimenting with the notion of space, infinity, circularity, and limits, Nazli addresses the idea of oneness in an increasingly polarized world.
Currently, she studies MFA Fine Arts at Pratt Institute in New York.
